Getting the engine into the shed was the first order of business. I built a plywood road across the lawn between the house and shed, and the two palette jacks rolled across quite easily.
The engine is still mostly assembled, with the notable exceptions of the crankshaft and piston. The crank area of the base casting is full of a combination of parts, dirt and mulch. All of the bearings are present, along with some parts which are a mystery. Overall condition is a good covering of rust, with very little rot.
Breakages seem confined to the hotbox/vapourizer and a tooth on the sideshft gear, though the rust pitting on the crankshaft journals is quite deep.
