The Fielding & Platt company, based in Gloucester, England, were are significant engineering firm from the late 19th century through the early 20th. They made a wide range of products, including a number of early internal combustion engines of varying designs, and exported them all over the world.

Engines and other machinery was imported into Australia by Smellie & Co, which had offices in Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. Some of this equipment may still be found today along Queensland's coast.

I have been fortunate to find three engines over the last decade, in various states of disrepair.
